Public monuments in our cities perpetuates a positive initiative to create a sense of place. These places are irreplaceable and iconic, all while telling a story of the history of the city, culture, and politics.
Iconic buildings are imperative to a successful sense of togetherness, yet it is the spaces in between that holds everything together.
Existing built environments can become stagnant and lack sustenance, especially in the historical context of the streetcar-suburbs held within many main city boundaries. Our future neighborhoods will need to grow from within older districts with progressive equity in mind for all.
